Swiss ETA Watches -- Girard-Perregaux
1956 Ferrari "Girard-Perregaux" watch given as a 65th birthday gift to engine designer Vittorio Jano by Lancia-Ferrari D50 driver Eugenio Castelotti. This watch is a 34mm manual winding with the Prancing Horse at 6 o'clock, a cream face and two subdials. There is some scratching to the sides of the case but it's in otherwise fine condition for it's age. The replacement strap is black crocodile and in perfect order. The rear of the case has been inscribed Per Vittorio Jano maestro di tecnica e di vita Eugenio Castelotti 22 April 1956. Vittorio (Apr.22/1891-Mar.13, 1965) is probably one of the most influential Italian automobile designers, starting early with Fiat in 1911, then moving to Alfa Romeo
